My journey to success    The tedx talk I chose was that of a south Indian actress Aiswarya Rajesh. She talks about the difficulties that she overcame to reach where she is today . She is truly an inspiration to all of us because of the way she rose above all difficulties. Born to a poor family ,she and her family faced lots of troubles. But the real struggle began when her father and elder brother died one after the other. Instead of being depressed , she started to search for part time jobs.  The actress says that her first job was to promote a brand outside a mall. But then she found that TV serials offered higher wages and hence started to work as an actress. She also says that the discrimination in film industry is real ; and female actors are mostly hired for their fair skin than for talent. She was openly rejected several times because of her dark skin . From her life we can see that discrimination based on skin color still exist . T

ENJOY THE PROCESS: AYUSH MEHRA;Joyal Gijo

Image
</div I had seen the Tedx talk delivered by a Bollywood actor cum director Ayush Mehra. He demystifies the struggle behind the recognition craved by many and leaves us with one important message:'Enjoy the Process' Along the talk he spoke about his struggles on becoming an actor. Actually Ayush was intersted in sports but due to his sister's advice ; pursued dance. From his stage programmes with distinguished actors he become interested in acting because actors can dance at the front row without much practice. He was successively rejected for 9 auditions and got his first ad in his 10th audition. The part of his talk that inspired me the most is his attitude towards Rejection. He become desensitised for rejection .He started realising that rejection was not our fault .May we are not fit at that aspect at that point of time. But there are 10000 other things that we might fit in.Or there must be 9999 aspects where you

TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING

I want to share the TED motivational speech of Danish Dhamani. And as per the topic says it is about how he overcame his fear of public speaking. He had this fear from a very young age, it was  like it became a part of  his soul. He wanted to somehow get rid of it. And he begin to search for a solution. If we have a problem where will go to find a solution. We come to that one place in internet where we can find all solution,we Google it.that what  he did. From there he realised that he had all wrong. He thought that some people where born with speaking ability and some where not.He found that public speaking was actually a teachable skill. He started to attend public speaking classes . He then talks us about apps like Alexa and Siri. How it can understand what we speak and analyse it. So he thought what if one has a personal coach who will be always there with you anytime, anywhere to help us speak english. That thought changed his life and there came the beginning of ORAI. oralAI. Her Ted-x talks has been one of the most influential one. We all may think that the five seconds of scrolling does not matter at all. But researchers say that envying your friends even leads to depression. she talks about three kinds of destructive beliefs that make us less effective and rob our mental strength :- UNHEALTHY BELIEFS ABOUT OURSELVES The concept of demotivating ourselves by criticizing our fate leads us to a situation from which recovery is too hard. Some of us keep on complaining about their life, this eventually takes us to a position from which figuring out solutions are impossible. UNHEALTHY BELIEFS ABOUT OTHERS    We are the one's who must have the power to control our own lives. W

"IT'S OKAY NOT TO HAVE A PLAN" - Mithila Palkar

Image
IT'S OKAY NOT TO HAVE A PLAN I have watched a video which is hosted by Mithila Palkar an Indian actress and it is titled as " IT'S OKAY NOT TO HAVE A PLAN ". She tells about the journey towards her success. She began the video by a 'Cup song' and later on she explains about her passion and the obstacles she faced during her journey. We all have a passion. When we try to pursue it, things will eventually fall into place. Today, we are forced to make very important decisions very early in our life. We might not be aware about what to do. But 'It's okay'. Most of our parents just want us to grow up, graduate and have a 'decent' job. Her parents were of the same kind too. But she was determined and stuck on her dream. She had to face many who just made some negative comments on her dream and on her. She takes herself as an example. We will have to face at least three rejections before we achieve something big. Failure makes it easy to give up

The Idli Maker | Ted Talk by P.C Mustafa | Reviewed by Natasha Maria Davis, Sociology Department

THE IDLI MAKER A friendly debate has been wiring up the fences of social media since a few days. A British Professor Edward Anderson had tweeted ‘idli’ to be the most boring breakfast. This comment flared up the sentiments of idli lovers all over the world including our own M.P Shashi Tharoor who was also dejected by this tweet which later cooked up a strong debate between them. The hero of our story is our own humble fluffy white idli. Here is a review on a ted talk by the founding person of ID {instant idli and dosa batter}, Mr P.C Mustafa. From being the son of a kooli, his journey from a school dropout to an engineering graduate was not an easy task. He later worked in MNCs in India after completing his studies. The desire in him to provide employment to children in his village pushed him to move out from being an employee to an entrepreneur. With an aim of building up his own business, Mustafa founded a simple yet demanding product along with his cousins. ID fresh food a

EDUCATION SYSTEM IN INDIA EXPLAINED ! : TALK RENDERED BY VINAY MENON ,REVIEWED BY ANJALI [MATH DEPT ]

Image
THE THREE MYTHS OF INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM    Oh Sorry! My mistake... Since the Indian education system depicted in the above graphic is bunkum and antiquated as proven convincingly by the Western world through their many treatises and research. We must therefore mean the  Western system of education . Which we Indians have adopted. But take great pride in all the same. Here is my take on why this system of education has failed in India , based on the talk rendered by Vinay Menon .          Vinay Menon is an English professor and a well familiar name in the genre of Stand-up comedy , he identifies himself as an Ex -Software engineer , in essence he is yet another person who fell bait for the typical Indian education system . This talk  , focuses mainly on the Indian education system , highlighting the myths and flaws embedded within and are often ignored by the mob and hence it's thumbnail falls "The three myths of Indian education system ".                           R. Sreeleka is the first woman IPS officer and also the first woman DGP from Kerala. She talks about the discrimination she had faced when she came into the police department.Even the DGP at that time had announced her visit as a pollution. It was these types of attitudes that she has to met. The officers had given her so many concessions, so she don’t have to do night duty, traffic duty, etc. But she refused it all and did double of everything to prove that a lady can also do all these and might be in a better way than male can do.                When she gets married to a doctor and she was suddenly transferred to an insignificant post where her husband works. She was posted in crime records bureau where ASPs of her rank were not appointed and she became the first IPS officer to appointed in that department. HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOURSELF? : TALK BY LIZZIE VELASQUEZ| REVIEWED BY SEETHALAKSHMI [SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT]

HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOURSELF? : A TALK BY LIZZIE VELASQUEZ "WHAT DEFINES YOU AS A PERSON IS NOT THE LIFE YOU WERE BORN INTO.....BUT WHAT YOU MADE OUT OF IT." The name Lizzie Velasquez can be seen as one of the best examples for the above quote. And her talk at the Tedx platform again proves this point. She inspires us through the speech by sharing her own life experiences.....               Talking about her life, she was her parents first child. And when she was born the doctors told her parents to not expect their daughter to walk ,crawl ,think and to do anything by herself. Because she was born with an extremely rare and congenital disease called Marfanoid-progeroid-lipodystrophy syndrome that, among other symptoms, prevents her from accumulating body fat and body weight. Along with that she is blind in her right eye, which began to cloud over when  she was four...But her parents never felt a sense of  dissatisfaction with her. They raised her with a lot of love and suppor

THREE MYTHS OF INDIAN ED UCATION SYSTEM   Three Myths of Indian Educational system is a Tedx talk by Vinay Menon, an English teacher and a stand up comedian. He started the talk by asking ‘How many of you woke up today to learn something new?’  He saw only five hands rising up. He says that people coming to an education institutions treat learning as a foreign concept, which led to another question- “What is the point of current educational system in India?”. He says that people give boring answers that it is to get a job, to have financial stability and to have marriage…., etc. Vinay Menon himself don’t have an answer for it. But he quotes that he can give a fresh prospective on a few things for finding its answer.  He says that English education was introduced for the sake of British rule. They wanted people to sit at a desk, do as they told without getting too creative. This bring us to the first myth . 1) THE ALL MIGHTY SYLLABUS  Our education system is about memorizing, it’s n
