EDUCATION SYSTEM IN INDIA EXPLAINED ! : TALK RENDERED BY VINAY MENON ,REVIEWED BY ANJALI [MATH DEPT ]

THE THREE MYTHS OF INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM

Oh Sorry! My mistake...

Since the Indian education system depicted in the above graphic is bunkum and antiquated as proven convincingly by the Western world through their many treatises and research.

We must therefore mean the Western system of education. Which we Indians have adopted. But take great pride in all the same.

Here is my take on why this system of education has failed in India , based on the talk rendered by Vinay Menon .

Vinay Menon is an English professor and a well familiar name in the genre of Stand-up comedy , he identifies himself as an Ex -Software engineer , in essence he is yet another person who fell bait for the typical Indian education system . This talk  , focuses mainly on the Indian education system , highlighting the myths and flaws embedded within and are often ignored by the mob and hence it's thumbnail falls "The three myths of Indian education system ".

REVIEW

This talk on our flaws was such an eye opener . It tells how education starts from schools' and end on engineering and medical .And hence the first myth ,"what is the point of current education system in India !?". Is it just about getting a good job , a good spouse and genetically perfect children and then again subject them to the system ..and the cycle continues . Little do we know that this leads to children spending their lives instead of living it  .

Coming to the second myth " Art is not important " , as education system was introduced in our country just for the sake of trade ,i.e for the east India company , obviously no one needed a painter running around in the factories as Mr . Menon said . Hence , STEM subjects were introduced and was given utmost importance. In fact , art is important , the subject which is so stereotyped and misunderstood in the Indian psyche , that it's nothing short of a national tragedy . Art is more than being a painter or a musician and it should be a part of our  mighty syllabus . The speaker has highlighted this point very effectively .

These two vast explanations throws light on the third myth 'Education should be utilitarian' . Discipline requires punishment , we Indian students are not allowed to make mistakes ." Creativity is making mistakes , and art is which one to keep" . Unfortunately the enclosed statement is invalid in the Indian subcontinent or is barely a myth .

With the elaborate and beautiful explanations of the three myths with the speakers' dab of humor and healthy satire he concludes his talk and expects people to enjoy knowledge rather than endure it .
