Grimance of Morality in Sports

Image
The celebration of Cristiano Ronaldo on causing a ₹400 cr loss on Coca-Cola does raise some serious questions. Despite the drink having all those consequences on health It still opens a debate on the moral aspects of sportsmanship.  Even if not to consider Ronaldo advertising the brand few years back It's not an alien thing for athletes about the importance of sponsorship in domine of sports.  The prime motive of the sponsoring  companies being advertisement and the profit to thus generate, It indeed is a service in the sense it provides the masses across globe free access to live sports action by cancelling out the costs of broadcasting.  Causing the company a  loss of this magnitude could no way be justified not to be a crime. As far as the player's, to perform keeps on exploiting the platform sponsored by the companies no argument of morality is relevant either. It hasn't been so long after  'Naomi Osaka' showed a moral & bold way of protest at the Roland Ga

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY, THOMASKUTTY MATHEW

Image
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY Every year June 5th is celebrated as environment day across the globe. The theme for this year's environment day is "ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION." Pakistan will be hosting this years environment day. Environment Day is celebrated  to remind people about the importance of nature. Their silent selfless sacrifice cannot be left unseen. In the absence of human activities amid the coronavirus-induced lockdown, nature is getting time to clean itself and reclaim its space. For a healthy life, the environment plays an important role. It provides us with air, food, etc. Someone rightly said that the difference between animals and humans is that animals change themselves for the environment, but humans change the environment for themselves. The environment is like our neighbourhood, its surrounding conditions affect us and also modify development. It is necessary to address environmental issues like deforestation, increasing global warming, wastage and losses of fo

Lives of the 'haves' and 'have-nots' in the times of Corona (THOMASKUTTY MATHEW)

While we are busy tweeting selfies with masks, there is a whole section of society that is forced to go about life as usual devoid of any safety net. It appears, that the privileged are treating this as a break with children thronging play grounds, with little concern about how serious the situation is. Medical personnel who are treating these patients are working like soldiers putting their own lives and families at risk. It is clear that it is people working in the unorganized sector who will not have the resources to defend themselves are therefore the most vulnerable ones(not only in case of virus but also to poverty). They also have little or no social security or economic cushion. Perhaps this is the right time to consider implementing a Basic Income scheme in India. "HAVES" showing that they have too much will upset the have-nots and sow the seeds of resentment and ignite social tension.  The more things change, the more they remain the same.

"You should avoid going out now onwards”, “You should neither enter into the kitchen nor touch the plants ,because your presence will make those impure” "Stop all your friendship with boys ,you are grown now” “If someone asks why you are looking so grief ,tell them it's fever or something ,don't tell anything about periods because you should always hide your periods and its problems”, “always make sure that you covered the sanitary napkins properly when you buy it from the store so that no one notice it ".This may be some unwanted advices girls got from the society including their parents .Dome families even force their girls to bury the clothes they wore during periods by saying the may destroy the purity of the surroundings. I think it is clear that I am going to share my thoughts about "PERIODS" I got my menarche when I was 12 years old but I was unaware of its importance and why this happens to me.So I thought speaking openly about my menstru
