I HAVE PROMISES TO KEEP - ATHIRALAKSHMI, TEAM 5

 




We as a human have got a lot of promises to keep. Some are too personal, some are social, some are financial and the type and kind varies. Even I too have got few which I strong believe as one of the purpose of everyone's life.  

               According to me, the most important promise that one need to take care of and fulfill is about themselves, its about loving oneself more the way they are, improving themselves, correcting themselves, making themselves a better person everyday. Secondly, one need to  promise to take care of two most important person of my life, the one who brought us to this world, raised us, gave us everything thing they could and struggled for providing us with those things which they couldn't afford, and most importantly made us what we are today- our parents. The promise one need to make for them is to do all we could do for them because I don't feel that we would be able to pay back, not even partially, for what they had done for us all these while even if  we do that for our entire lives.  The third promise is for the society and our country, to contribute for its growth, do the best things we could do and be a proud citizen in spite of all problems and difficulties we need to face. And the most important promise one need to take and fulfill is to be and live like a good human, one who have got empathy, one who can be selfless, one who can understand the value of love and affection for anyone around and thus set an example of humanity to this world which is turning more and more selfish each day. 

                     Promises aren't merely just words, it a feeling, an opportunity, a responsibility, a new challenge and basically speaking an exploration of ourselves. Its true that we may not fulfill every promise that we had made but make sure that you do maximum because at times, the efforts that we make for fulfilling our words and promises defines ourselves. That  means  PROMISES THAT WE MAKE AND THE EFFORT ONE TAKES TO FULFILL THEM IS A TRUE REFLECTION OF WHAT WE ARE.....

Be Extraordinary: Thomaskutty Mathew 1st BA Sociology

  Lady in the house, her responsibilities and ambitions The most important video which struck my attention was the inspirational video by Amrita Duhan. Ms.Amrita Duhan is an IPS officer by profession and MBBS by degree. She hails from Rohtak in Haryana. From the very young age she dreamt of becoming a Civil Servant. She was inspired by a serial telecasted in the Doordarshan channel. Later when she informed it in her family her parents didn't support it. Sarcastically, she says that the ultimate goal of middle-class parents is let their children be a doctor or engineer. She further adds that for a secure future Mrs Amarita Duhan choose MBBS and she says that she is the first doctor in her own family. After completing her MBBS and MD in pathology,  she had joined as an assistant professor in a Government Medical College. Then came up her marriage. After marriage when she said that she wish to become a Civil Servant, her in-laws discouraged

OVERCOMING HOPELESSNESS : Thomaskutty Mathew, 1st BA Sociology

   Today I am going to introduce a new personality, who might be familiar to at least some of us. His name is Nick Vujicic.   Nick Vujicic is an Australian-American motivational speaker, born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by the absence of hands and legs. He was born in Australia and later he shifted to California. Basically he is a Christian evangelist.    The essence of all his speech is to "transform the worse into the best." In his autobiography,  he says that when he was born his mother was reluctant to see him. Later on they eventually accepted the fact that it was God's plan for their son.   He says about how he overcame obstacles in his life. Further, he adds that his  obstacles became opportunities. He says that a lot of students teased him. In spite of all those he could  complete his higher education successfully.   His words are to be noted in our hearts.  " When we lose hope we will lose our strength to live. " Willpower
