LITERARY APPRECIATION


Roots is a short story by Ismat Chugtai which is an depiction of reality on an around the time of India-Pakistan partition. The story presents the love and care that each religion and people have for one another at the mist of communal hatred. The Urdu writer Ismat Chugtai have made the work that provoke the emotions of the readers through a lot of literary expressions which could be found throughout the narration. The feelings were getting stronger while going along with the story.

  “Two pearls of warm tears trickled down”


   The warm tears represent the tear of happiness of Amma when her children came back. And it is considered as valuable and precious.

Who knows whether the new soil will be conducive to these saplings or make them wilt."


Amma couldn't sleep that night, thinking whether her children and other relatives will be able to survive in the new land or get killed on the way.

She had nursed the crop with her heart's blood through fifty years.


           Amma's family is personified to crop.Amma take care of her family. She spent her good time of her life for the betterment of family.She built her family over her life and hardwork.  Now she is scared about her children's condition in new land.

  Lady in the house, her responsibilities and ambitions The most important video which struck my attention was the inspirational video by Amrita Duhan. Ms.Amrita Duhan is an IPS officer by profession and MBBS by degree. She hails from Rohtak in Haryana. From the very young age she dreamt of becoming a Civil Servant. She was inspired by a serial telecasted in the Doordarshan channel. Later when she informed it in her family her parents didn't support it. Sarcastically, she says that the ultimate goal of middle-class parents is let their children be a doctor or engineer. She further adds that for a secure future Mrs Amarita Duhan choose MBBS and she says that she is the first doctor in her own family. Hello everyone,     Today I am trying to present the TED x talk of Dr. Shashi Tharoor         In his talk he emphasises the importance of a well formed mind than a well educated mind.The average age of Indian population is 28,so we have a very young population compared to all other countries.  He says that by 2020, we will have 160 million people in this age group ready to work. Even though we are equipped to be the superpower of the world we have some limitations.In the 1970s &  80s the students attending the classes were very less.
