ONE INDIAN GIRL by CHETAN BHAGAT-Anju Jossy(TEAM 5)

'One Indian Girl' is one of the best novels from the author of six bestselling novels, Chetan Bhagat. He has already set his mark on the audience by his remarkable way of writing and good humor sense. His books are really simple that even a small child can understand the meaning. This book is special as Chetan Bhagat has written it in female voice. He has succeeded in creating an impact on the reader as it opens up the thoughts of an 'Indian girl'.

Chetan Bhagat has brilliantly written the novel in such a way that the reader can immediately connect to Radhika Mehta, the central character. The novel begins with the scene of a talk at a resort in Goa. It is regarding the arrangements of rooms for the guests. The resort was the place for the grand destination wedding of Radhika. Things go on until she gets a message from her ex-boyfriend, Debashish Sen, who came to Goa to apologize to her and restart their relationship. Here the reader encounters the first flashback of
Radhika, in New York. It furthur reveals the happenings in her life and how Debu left her without any solid reason. The story goes by until another guy, Neil, her ex-boyfriend in Hong Kong. He too decides to come to Goa for the same thing as Debu had come for. Here the reader gets an idea of the Hong Kong days of Radhika.

Atlast she is in a dilemma on what to do, whom to choose. She couldn't concentrate on any of the grand pre-wedding rituals as her mind was amidst the three men. Finally she reaches a decision and calls both Debu and Neil to the same restaurent at the same time. She tells them about the problems in them and asks them to leave Goa and her life forever. She also calls her husband-to -be, Brigesh, and tells him that she cannot marry him as she is not mentally ready. The novel ends by Radhika travelling over the world and finally meeting Brigesh again.

The novel excellently takes the presence of the readers onto the book as it is really relatable to most of the girls. It also depicts the sensible decisions of Radhika. This book indulges our full presence and makes one read it at a single stretch. I would suggest this book for everyone who loves reading especially romantic ones.
