To read means to be felt - Athiralakshmi, BA sociology, Team 5

                                                                      Benefits of reading

Todays session was very interesting for me. Its true that I'm not an voracious reader but even I do love reading. Since I've got few good readers as friends, whenever they come across a good book, they would suggest me to go through that. For me ,reading is something that makes me live someone else's life for a few days.  I imagine the entire scenario which I'm reading which makes me face all the feelings which each character of that novel had gone through. This makes me feel extreme happiness, anger, helplessness, the pain and especially I do get panic when something goes wrong in that story and when that happens, I could literally hear my heartbeat in my ears. Reading books makes me experience the unexperienced and to feel the unfelt plenty of times and there were moments in my life when such similar incidents did happen in my life and I got that déjà vu feeling and that's the most amazing part about this.

Well, I was totally happy to hear from others why they got this habit of reading and what it means for them. And I could also gather certain new reasons about why people prefer reading and of course why reading is important. A few shared their personal reasons and also showed and talked about their collections and preferences. Todays session also made me realize few things and the most important realization was that

"Reading is not just an action, its a feeling that differs from person to person"
