THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI
-Robin Sharma
Robin Sharma is a Canadian writer, best known for his book, 'The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari'.It is an interesting story about fulfilling one's dreams and reaching their destiny. It is the story of a fictional lawyer, Julian Mantle,a man who,in anyone else's eyes, had it all.He was one of the best trial lawyers in the United States. But actually, his workload was far too heavy for him to handle, and he was struggling, which lead him to suffer a severe heart attack on the floor of the courtroom. After that incident, Mantle sold both his mansion and his Ferrari, and decided to move to the Himalayan mountains, and never returned to practicing law.He needed wisdom.
Three years later,he returned at his former colleague's office. When he showed up,he was very healthy than before and had a smile similar to that of Buddha.Mantle had spent his time travelling in India from village to village by foot.During his journey,he met a group of monks known as the Sages of Sivana. There was one particular monk,Yogi Raman, who taught him the life-changing Sivana system. The Sivana system is based on seven basic virtues. They are:
- Master your mind
- Follow your purpose
- Practice Kaizen
- The power of discipline
- Respect your time
- Selflessly serve others
- Embrace the present
These were the seven lessons that the monk taught Mantle, which completely changed his life.
"The secret of happiness is simple: find out what you truly love to do and then direct all of your energy towards doing it.Once you do this, abundance flows into your life and all your desires would be filled with ease and grace."
